    Why This Recipe Works

    Deviled eggs are typically not something I think to make for parties, but this needs to change ASAP. Deviled eggs are pretty much the easiest appetizer, finger food or party food on the planet with flavor that is mind-blowingly good.

    Because when you see a simple old egg sitting there on a plate, do you expect it to be delicious? Tasty maybe, but not necessarily delicious.

    When you devil an egg, though (ha, I just turned “devil” into a verb), a surprising level of deliciousness explodes in your mouth. A batch of deviled eggs takes just a few minutes to make, which is pretty awesome because what other party food requires mere minutes of prep?

    Recipe Ingredients

    Eggs – Use your Instant Pot to make your hard-boiled eggs and it will make this recipe a breeze. If you love having eggs that peel ridiculously easily, making them in IP is the way to go!

    If you don’t have a pressure cooker or you’re putting it to use on something else, here are easy-to-follow instructions for making them perfectly on the stove-top.

    Mayo – To make the end result healthier, use a reduced fat/calorie version of mayo and/or decrease the amount used in the recipe by half.

    Cayenne pepper – Omit the cayenne pepper entirely for a more mild recipe.

    Paprika – Paprika and deviled eggs go together like peanut butter and jelly! Sprinkle generously over the tops, just before serving.

    How To Make The Best Deviled Eggs Ever

    Step 1

    Peel hard-boiled eggs and slice them in half lengthwise using a sharp knife. Scoop out the yolks and place in a small bowl, along with mayo, mustard, onion powder, salt, pepper and cayenne pepper (if using). Use a fork to mash the mixture together.

    Step 2

    Place the egg white halves hole-side up on a serving plate and spoon or pipe the yolk mixture into the holes. Sprinkle with paprika and refrigerate until ready to serve.

    Recipe Notes

    • Use a frosting piping bag or simply a resealable bag to add the yolk mixture back into the halved egg whites to make the final product extra pretty.

    Deviled Egg Variations

    Think of the classic deviled egg recipe as a template. There are so many other flavors and ingredients to add to your next batch that will take your deviled eggs to the next level of delicious. Here are a few ideas to get your wheels turning:

    • Everything Bagel Seasoning: Replace all seasonings in the recipe with 1-2 teaspoons of Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel Seasoning.
    • Hummus: Add a few tablespoons of hummus to the yolk mixture in place of mustard, as well as a few splashes of fresh lemon juice.
    • Spicy: Add a few splashes of Tabasco sauce (or your favorite hot sauce) as well as some diced jalapenos.
    • Guacamole: Replace the mayo and mustard with 1/2 of an avocado, 3 tablespoons sour cream and a few squirts of fresh lime juice. Replace the paprika with cayenne pepper.
    • Buffalo: Replace the mustard with an equal amount of buffalo sauce. Finely diced celery (about 1/4 cup) can be thrown in, too! Omit paprika.
    • Meat Lovers: Add up to 1/2 cup chopped meat such as bacon, turkey, chicken, ground beef or ground sausage.
    • Fish Lovers: Add 1 small can of drained tuna fish or 1/2 cup cooked, flaked salmon.
    • Herbed: Load the mixture up with chopped herbs such as chives, parsley, cilantro, basil or thyme.
