Homemade Marinara Sauce

This marinara dipping sauce recipe is the best! Skip store-bought and make this perfect dipping sauce for bread sticks or to add to your next pasta dish. Made in just a few minutes, this will become your new favorite easy sauce.

WHY MAKE THIS RECIPE?

INGREDIENTS

3 tbsp Olive oil 1/2 Yellow onion 4 Cloves garlic 1/4 c Fresh basil 1 tsp Onion powder, dried oregano, sugar, salt & pepper 28 oz Whole tomatoes 28 oz Crushed tomatoes 6 oz Tomato paste

STEP 1

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook until soft and fragrant, about 3 minutes.

Next add fresh basil, oregano, sugar, salt and pepper and cook for an additional 3 minutes.

STEP 2

Add whole tomatoes, crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Use a potato masher to break down the whole tomatoes just a bit.

Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to medium-low and simmer for 20 minutes.
