Split Pea Soup with Leftover Ham Bone
Split Pea Soup with Leftover Ham Bone
STEP 1
You want to soften all your veggies with some melted butter until they are fragrant and perfect for eating in your soup.
STEP 2
Whether you use that great big savory ham bone or just chop up some leftover ham into diced pieces, now's the time to add it to your Dutch oven.
STEP 3
Toss in the bay leaf and split peas. You want to bring the whole pot to a boil, then simmer it for an hour with the cover on.
STEP 4
Take out the bone, discard the bay leaf and you can begin serving up bowls for dinner. Croutons make a great topping!
TIP
Easy garlic bread makes a good side to dip into your soup. It comes together quickly too!
