Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

  • Place all the ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat. Bring to a simmer. Let simmer for 10 minutes, or until sauce has thickened.
  • Store in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to one week. If you prefer, you can freeze this sauce for up to 3 months.

Notes

  • Consider adding 1 teaspoon of chili powder for an even bolder flavor.
  • Replace the garlic powder with onion powder, if desired.
  • A squirt or two of lemon juice adds a touch of tartness that you'll love!
  • Slather this sauce ALL over any meat of your choice before cooking. Here are a few ideas to get you started: beef or pork ribs, pulled pork, burgers, chicken breasts or brats.
  • BBQ chicken is my favorite thing to make with this sauce. The chicken is grilled to tender perfection, with the best flavor you'll ever imagine.
  • This bbq sauce also acts as a great dipping sauce for any meat.
