Perfect Vanilla Sheet Cake Recipe

  • 1 cup salted butter softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk room temperature
  • 1 batch Vanilla Buttercream frosting
  • Sprinkles for topping


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 11×16 pan with cooking spray and set aside. Using a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment (or a large mixing bowl with a hand mixer), combine the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla and beat until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well. Gradually add to the butter mixture and beat on medium-low speed until just combined. Add the milk and mix until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading in an even layer.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool. Spread frosting over the top in an even layer and top with sprinkles, if desired. Cut into squares and serve!
