Hoisin Chicken Rice Bowls take a quick 20 minutes to make from start to finish. Perfect for lunch or dinner, these delicious rice bowls are packed with flavor, color, texture and even a bit of spice!
In a small bowl, combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, ginger and red pepper flakes. Mix well and set aside.
Heat the sesame (or canola) oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 2 minutes, stirring. Add the mushrooms and red bell pepper and cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until veggies are soft. Add the chicken pieces and cook for 6 minutes, or until meat is cooked through.
Add the hoisin mixture to the skillet and heat until warmed through. Serve over rice and sprinkle with sesame seeds just before serving!

Hoisin sauce is traditionally used as a Chinese dipping sauce.
It is the delicious sauce you’ll find in most moo shu pork recipes, if you’ve ever tasted that deliciousness.
It can be tossed with any meat and veggie in stir-fry and can also be used as a dipping sauce for dumplings or potstickers.
