Ingredients

Sloppy joe mixture

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1/2 yellow onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper

Big Mac sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Sandwiches

  • 4 sesame seed buns
  • 1 cup iceberg lettuce chopped
  • 3 slices American cheese
  • 12 dill pickle chips

Instructions

  • Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until no longer pink. Drain grease if needed. Add onion and garlic and cook until veggies are soft and fragrant, about 3 minutes.
  • Add the Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper and stir to combine. Remove from heat.
  • In a small bowl, combine the mayo, relish, mustard, paprika, onion powder and garlic powder. Stir to combine.
  • Spread a generous amount of the Big Mac sauce on the insides of the bun (top and bottom). Add a small handful of chopped lettuce on the bottom bun, followed by a slice of cheese, a few spoonfuls of the meat mixture, 3 pickles and the top bun with sauce.
  • Repeat with remaining ingredients and serve immediately!

Notes

  • Use an anchovy-free Worcester sauce if you are allergic or avoid fish.
  • You can use ground turkey or chicken.
  • Add other traditional or nontraditional hamburger toppings, like diced tomatoes or sliced jalapenos, if you like.
  • This recipe is great for more than just sandwiches. See some other serving options below.
