Slow Cooker Crack Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken breasts boneless
  • 16 oz cream cheese cut into chunks
  • 2 oz dry Ranch seasoning mix 2 packages
  • 1 lb bacon cooked, chopped
  • 1 bunch green onions chopped, for topping

Instructions

  • In a slow cooker, combine the chicken, cream cheese and Ranch seasoning mix. Cook on low heat for 7-8 hours or high heat for 4 hours.
  • Shred the chicken in the crockpot using two forks. Add the bacon and cook for an additional 15 minutes. Serve warm, inside hamburger buns. Top with green onion slices and extra bacon pieces, if desired.

Notes

  • Use fresh ingredients, as well as good quality cream cheese. Using cheaper brands of cream cheese will result in a less creamy mixture and the cheese will not melt as well.
  • I always opt for low and slow when making slow cooker meals, but this recipe works great on high heat setting for a shorter period, too!
  • Replace chicken breasts with meat pulled from a Rotisserie chicken for an even simpler recipe! If you go this route, decrease cooking time by 2 hours and add the shredded Rotisserie meat 1 hour before time is up. Boneless chicken thighs are a fine replacement for breasts, as well (cook time stays the same).
  • Optional toppings: green onion slices, shredded cheddar cheese, Ranch dressing or extra bacon pieces.
