Why This Recipe Works
Has crack chicken infiltrated your life yet? I didn’t realize it was a thing until recently. The slow cooker version of this irresistible crack chicken is PERFECT. I love how easy it is to make and I love that it is a delicious meal AND it’s the perfect party fare. If you haven’t bacon ranch chicken wonder, you must!
What Is Crack Chicken
It is code for anything chicken-bacon-ranch flavored. That could mean sandwiches, wraps, salads, bread and ohh so much more. It is the perfect combination of ingredients because you cannot go wrong with chicken, bacon and ranch in the same recipe, am I right?!
How To Make Crockpot Crack Chicken
Follow these easy steps to make the BEST Slow Cooker Crack Chicken your lips will taste. Prepare to become addicted!
Step 1
In a slow cooker, combine 4 boneless chicken breasts, cream cheese and Ranch seasoning; mix. Cook on low heat for 6-8 hours or high heat for 4 hours. If at all possible, I recommend going low and slow.
Step 2
Shred the chicken in the crock pot (or on a cutting board) using two forks. Add the cooked bacon, replace the lid, and cook for an additional 15 minutes. Serve warm, inside hamburger buns. Top with green onion slices and extra bacon pieces, if desired!
How To Make Instant Pot Crack Chicken
This recipe works GREAT when made in an Instant Pot! Follow these simple instructions to transform Crack Chicken into an Instant Pot recipe:
Step 1
Place chicken breasts, cream cheese and Ranch seasoning in your Instant Pot.
Place cover on the pot and cook for 15 minutes on high pressure (pressure cook setting). When time is up, do a quick release. When silver float valve drops, remove cover and transfer chicken to a cutting board.
Step 2
Shred the chicken and add it back to the Instant Pot. Stir and add bacon pieces. Serve!
Recipe Notes
- Use fresh ingredients, as well as good quality cream cheese. Using cheaper brands of cream cheese will result in a less creamy mixture and the cheese will not melt as well.
- I always opt for low and slow when making slow cooker meals, but this recipe works great on high heat setting for a shorter period, too!
- Replace chicken breasts with meat pulled from a Rotisserie chicken for an even simpler recipe! If you go this route, decrease cooking time by 2 hours and add the shredded Rotisserie meat 1 hour before time is up. Boneless chicken thighs are a fine replacement for breasts, as well (cook time stays the same).
- Optional toppings: green onion slices, shredded cheddar cheese, Ranch dressing or extra bacon pieces.
What To Do With Crack Chicken
Once the chicken has finished cooking in the crock pot or Instant Pot, there are a handful of things you can do with the irresistible creamy chicken-bacon-ranch mixture:
- Sandwich the crack chicken deliciousness between hamburger buns (or bread) for a delicious, creamy chicken sandwich.
- Roll crack chicken into a tortilla to make a lunch wrap.
- Toss the chicken mixture into a leafy salad. No dressing required!
- Keto Crack Chicken: This recipe is KETO-friendly, minus the buns, so eat it solo or atop a bed of lettuce if you are complying with the keto diet.
