    Why This Recipe Works

When my husband and I first got married we did not eat in a super health-conscious manner all the time. We often ate entire dinners that consisted of nothing but cheesy, calorie-laden deliciousness (Spinach Artichoke Dip is a recurring contender).

A friend brought this easy appetizer to a gathering a few weeks ago and my mind was blown. The flavor and the fact that I could not stop eating it blew my mind. It is super easy to make and it tastes so dang good when scooped up by salty tortilla chips. YUM, you guys, this is seriously YUM.

You won’t find any Velveeta cheese chunks in this dip but it is creamy and delicious. It’s easy to make a crowd pleasing dip with sausage and cheese as the main ingredients. Game day can be enjoyed with minimal effort and your guests will be pleased!

How To Make Sausage Cheese Dip

    Step 1

Brown the sausage in a skillet over medium heat and drain excess grease.

Add the cooked pork sausage to a slow cooker. Add cream cheese, Rotel tomatoes, olives and 1 cup of the cheddar cheese.

    Step 2

Stir and cook on high heat for 2 hours. Stir frequently, ensuring the cheese is melted and ingredients are being mixed together.

Sprinkle the remaining cheese in an even layer over the top and cook for an additional 15 minutes. Top with sliced green onions and serve with chips or crackers!

    Recipe Notes

    • Add fresh minced garlic or garlic powder to the sausage for an extra punch of flavor.
    • Rotel can be replaced with another variety of diced tomatoes, if desired.

I was wondering what kind of sausage you use. Is it Italian or breakfast sausage?

You can’t go wrong with any kind! I like to use a ground sausage with hot spices in it, mild is good for those who don’t like heat. But you could easily cook up some links or patties and chop them up too. Whatever you have on hand – use! Great question!
