Greek Yogurt French Onion Dip Recipe

Everyone always raves about, and devours! This homemade French onion dip recipe. My secret? Greek yogurt. It’s a healthier option than the classic sour cream that doesn’t sacrifice taste. Speaking of taste, don’t just use this Greek yogurt French onion dip for chips and veggies, wait until you try it on tacos or even on a grilled steak!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp dried minced onions
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, mayo, minced dried onions, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and salt. Mix well.

  • Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. Serve chilled, with crackers, chips or fresh vegetables. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • Additional spices or fresh herbs can be added, depending on tastes and what you have on hand. Fresh chives are a great addition.
  • Make the dip a few hours in advance so the flavors have a little time to develop.
  • Caramelize some chopped smaller pieces of yellow onions or sweet Vidalia onions until they are golden brown for an extra oniony dip.
  • Replace Worcestershire with some soy sauce, tamari, or liquid aminos for a fish-free option.
  • Dairy free yogurt and egg-free mayo for a vegan option when combined with anchovy-free Worcestershire.
