Equipment

  • 1 Pressure Cooker

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth (or any broth) or water
  • 1 head cabbage roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter cut in pats
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions

  • Pour the chicken broth (or water) into the Instant Pot. Add trivet to the pot and stack the chopped cabbage on top.
  • Add the butter pats on top of the cabbage and sprinkle the paprika, salt and pepper over the top.
  • Secure the lid and set the valve to sealing.
  • Cook on high pressure (use the Pressure Cook setting) for 5 minutes. When the cook time is up, do a quick release. Once the silver float valve drops, remove the lid. Pull the trivet out of the pot, carefully dumping the cabbage back into the pot.
  • Stir cabbage and serve immediately straight from the pot (or you can transfer to a serving dish).

Notes

  • Add crisp bacon pieces or diced ham before adding cabbage for smoky flavor.
  • Make it spicy: Add red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Add vinegar: A splash of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice brightens the flavor.
  • Add onion or garlic: Sauté a small diced onion or minced garlic in butter before adding the cabbage for extra depth and flavor.
  • Make it vegetarian: Swap chicken broth for vegetable broth and use plant-based butter or olive oil.
