Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Combine the creamy base. Add the mayonnaise and sour cream to a medium bowl and whisk until smooth.
  • Add the seasonings. Stir in the lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, dried parsley, garlic salt, paprika, salt, cayenne pepper and black pepper until thoroughly combined.

Notes

  • Do not skip the chilling time. The dip tastes noticeably better after at least 1 hour in the refrigerator because the dried seasonings soften and the flavors blend.
  • Use full-fat ingredients. Full-fat mayonnaise and sour cream create the rich flavor and smooth consistency that most closely resemble Champps seasoned sour cream.
  • Adjust after chilling. Taste the dip only after it has rested, then add more salt, cayenne or lemon juice if needed.
  • Thin it if necessary. For a thinner dipping or drizzling consistency, stir in milk 1 teaspoon at a time.
  • Store leftovers properly. Refrigerate the dip in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Stir well before serving. Freezing is not recommended.
Refrigerate the seasoned sour cream for at least 1 hour before serving. This resting time softens the dried seasonings and gives the dip its best flavor.
