This is officially the most delicious loaf of bread you’ll ever eat. This bread is infused with all the flavors of an apple pie! Juicy apples along with a streusel make up a perfect bite of moist bread. YES, PLEASE to all the apple pie bread!
Why This Recipe Works
Apple Pie Bread is going down in history for a handful of reasons:
1. The peeling of fresh apples required for this recipe caused my sharp knife to take a very large chunk of flesh from my thumb 2014, resulting in blood loss, tears, my then-four-year-old believing I was dying, a band-aid getting stuck to my open wound and a resulting trip to the ER.
2. This stuff is like CRACK and it is my favorite bread, dessert, apple recipe and fall recipe. I have made many loaves of this bread and they all get devoured quickly, and with little breathing involved.
3. Due to the incident stated in point #1 I was propelled to purchase an apple corer/peeler which I absolutely love to pieces. SAVE THE THUMBS!
Onto the crack! You really have to make this. But please be careful if you are wielding a knife. My family loves this recipe and I know yours will, too. It is such an easy and quick bread to make this time of year!
Recipe Ingredients
Brown sugar – If you prefer, you can add more naturally sweet apples and reduce the amount of brown sugar you added. Other sugar substitutes that would be great are maple syrup, coconut sugar or stevia.
Large apples – Use medium baking apples such as honeycrisp, gala, golden delicious, jonagold or granny smith. A mix of sweet and tart apples will bring a lot of dimension to the flavor of the loaf.
Apple pie spice – A great substitution for apple pie spice would be 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon + 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
How To Make Apple Pie Bread
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Throw the butter, milk, brown sugar, eggs and vanilla into a bowl. Mix with a stand or hand-held electric mixer on medium speed until the mixture is creamy.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt and apple pie spice. Gradually add the flour mixture to the sugar mixture until incorporated.
Step 2
Peel and core 4 large apples (or 6 medium or 8 small). This should come out to be about 4 cups when chopped. I have no idea what kinds of apples I used (I’ll save that story for my next apple-related post), but it was a good variety.
Chop the apples into bite-size chunks and fold them into the batter. Pour into a 9×5 prepared loaf pan that you’ve greased.
Step 3
For the topping, add a little bit of brown sugar, flour and melted butter to a small bowl and stir until crumbly. Sprinkle over the top of the batter and bake in the preheated oven for about an hour.
Start checking for doneness at the 45-minute mark by checking a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely on a wire rack. My loaves took 55 minutes.
Recipe Notes
- Make a batch of Rhubarb Peach Jam or Cherry Berry Jam and add a little to your slice of bread for a delicious over-the-top treat!
- If you notice that your bread is getting really brown on top but not done baking yet, place a piece of aluminum foil over the top and let it finish baking covered.
- The streusel topping really does take this recipe over the top and make it the perfect fall treat. You are going to love this bread!
- Allow the bread to cool in pan before inverting and removing. Run a butter knife down along all edges before doing this to prevent it from sticking.

FAQ About Apples
Good news! Apples are very good for you! Apples are high in dietary fiber and pectin found in the peels of the apples. One medium apple contains approximately 95 calories.
Dogs can eat apples, as they are a nutritious snack for dogs. They are an excellent source of vitamin C, helping immunity and providing other benefits.
Apples do not align with a keto diet. One medium apple contains more than 20 g of carbs, making it too carb-heavy for this low-carb eating plan.
Apples can be frozen! They can be frozen whole for up to 9 months, or prepare applesauce, pie filling or entire pies and freeze them that way instead.
When baking with apples, use a variety of apples. At the very least, use two kinds: one sweet and one tart. My personal favorite combo is Granny Smith apples and Honeycrisp apples.

Man oh man after reading these comments I'm glad I don't have a memorable kitchen incident. I'd love to try this bread with a new apple peeler! 😀 Thanks for the opportunity to win it. Good luck everyone.

Hey there. I'm so sorry to hear about your accident. I have so many similar accidents both in the kitchen and around the rest of the world, that I can't even begin to think of just one that would fit here… pulling the skillet out of the oven without gloves is as good one… forgetting to let the bbq air out before trying a second time to light it… and numerous scars on my hands from scars… oh… and a scar on my wrist from a dishwasher (difficult to accomplish).
Anyways… I found this post on Pintrest. My mom used to make an amazing apple cake, but she lost the recipe in a move… and I've been craving it a lot lately, so I was looking for something along the same lines. This recipe seems incredibly similar to what I remember, so this would probably be the first recipe that I would try with a new peeler/corer.
Thanks
Deb
I remember when the kids were growing up how any blood loss was a major event and seemed like always one was under foot when something was bleeding! But most recently I was shredding fresh carrots and beets to put in the freezer for soups and cakes through the winter months. And you would think with a food processor to do all the cutting there would be no blood loss. But when changing the blade to the slicing mode I went to pick up the circular blade I accidently brushed against the slicing part that was sticking up and had a nice cut to my finger…I tried to apply pressure and run under cold water to slow the bleeding to no avail. So I wrapped it with a paper towel and continued to have pressure. It finally slowed down a little and I decided it was ok to add a little bleach to the dish water and wash the few dishes. But then arises a new problem, I stuck my hand in the water and the knife that I had peeled the beets with was directly under my other hand and a new bleeding adventure began! Anyway I decided that I had been busy enough bandaged my wounds and retired to the living room! Thanks for letting me share my story of adventure in the kitchen. Praying you stay safe so your children can continue to see you live life to the fullest!

Many years ago as a new bride I was talking on the phone to my mother in law ( rip dear lady she is gone now), and although I loved her dearly she could talk for hours and therefore I always seemed to be doing something while I listened to her on the phone. This particular time was no exception, as I was washing dishes with the phone cradled on my shoulder ( years before cell phones you were lucky when you had a loooong cord). I noticed my dish water was turning red, and remember thinking I had not had sphaghetti to turn it that color. Well I had washed a glass that was broken and had cut myself enough to require stitches. I told her mom " I needed to go to the dr., and she just kept talking so I left the phone off the hook and went next door and asked my neighbor for a ride to the clinic. The next time I saw my mom in law she asked " what I. The world did you do to your hand"? I just chuckled and said I cut it washing dishes :).i didn't have the heart to tell her I hidden it while talking to her as she would have felt bad.

When I was 15, I did all the cooking i the house since both my parents worked. I was cooking a pot roast in the oven and went to pull out the roasting pan but I didn't realize the oven mittens were slightly wet or maybe just old but I burned my hand as I pulled it out but the real bad part is that since my hand was burning I pulled it out on a steep angle and touched the inside of the oven with my forearm. It immediately bubbled up and today 13 years later i still have the scar.

I had been standing at the stove preparing roux for gumbo for 45 minutes. I was growing weary of the constant stirring as we love a very dark roux. My husband entered the kitchen and spoke to me and it scared me so bad I flung the roux over my hands! While was in hysterics from the pain, he had to gather our baby and get us to the ER. I had 3rd degree burns from my fingertips to my elbows. Some of the burns on my fingers actually melted my skin and exposing bones! I was hospitalized for 4 weeks undergoing daily scrubs and some grafting. These days, I go to restaurants for my gumbo!

I made this apple pie bread today with apples I picked from my own apple tree, and it was worth all the cutting around bruises and warts on the untended organic apples. Two thumbs up!
Speaking of thumbs, when I was about 8 months pregnant with my third child, I was peeling some carrots for dinner and sliced into the side of my thumb with a paring knife I had recently sharpened. My 8-year-old said "ewwwwwww" and ran upstairs, but my 3-year-old remained calm, took my other hand and led me into the bathroom. She peeled open a Band-Aid with her tiny fingers and helped me tape the gaping wound shut, remaining calm and reassuring the whole time. There was lots of blood, and probably stitches were in order, but she didn't even flinch. The thumb healed up just fine without stitches, thanks to my lil' Florence Nightingale.

I have two kitchen accidents that left scars that family members love to recall over large holiday meals: one is from when I first started cooking. Halfway through opening a can of mushrooms my can opener died. I was in such a state of hysterics trying to feed everyone that I thought just grabbing ahold of the lid and prying it open with my bare hands was the best plan. Not so much…twelve band aids and a sink full of blood later my mom showed up to assess the damage. One look at the blood seeping through my newest baind aid and she whisked me to the E.R. Three and a half stitches, two injections and one med student later and I headed home. Never touched another can of mushrooms again after that. The second tale of my kitchen sagas is when I made Thanksgiving dinner for fifteen people and ruined two drip pans for good. Everything was going well until the gravy needed thickening. I grabbed what I assumed (never assume!) was cornstarch. I made a slurry that was strangely gritty, but used it none the less. As I mixed it in a volcano of gravy covered the stove. Baking soda is not a good thickener fyi, it doesn't taste good either!

This week I had a neighbor give me about 300 apples. I was so excited I borrowed my sisters apple peeler and corer. I set it up and started off to work. About 40 apples in the handle snapped and flung my hand into the edge of the table. My hand hit so hardit fractured my thumb! I still have 200+ apples to peel and so I would love to get a new peeler!

I have a ton of memories of my grandma, my sister and I baking apple pies at my grandmas house and it was one of our favorite things to do. Some of the best times I spend with my grandma is baking in her kitchen to this day. I want to make these memories with my son who is always right next to my side because he's such a mommys boy. I think that the greatest memories come from being with family and talking and baking in our kitchen is one way I love to spend time with my family. I would love to be able to make this apple bread with my son and let him help me peel the apples.

Sounds yummies will probable be making this one tonight for my lil "kinni" bread lover… Been craving apple bread/spice cake since hubby brought home a zucchini from his friends garden

So my worst kitchen injury happened with a knife while making rice krispie bars. I was in junior high and attempting to make these on my own. All was going really well until I noticed there was a prize in the box of rice krispies. I pulled out the prize while measuring the rice krispies and needed to open it right.away. No kitchen scissors so I took a knife out of the drawer and slit the prize open and right through the tip of my index finger. Rice Kripies bars were hard and beyond repair while I was holding a huge amount of gauze over my bleeding finger that wouldn't stop bleeding. I think it bled for HOURS that afternoon.

This has to be the most memorable for me and my husband. I was multi-tasking in the kitchen by making cookies and also a rum cake. The timer went off so I took the cookies out of the oven and set them over the sink (we lived in a small apartment) and took the glaze off the burner. Not thinking, I tossed the oven mitt onto the stove. About five minutes later my husband and I both looked at the stove and the oven mitt was on fire. Apparently, I forgot to shut the burner off (one more reason I hated electric burners) I hurried and grabbed a non-burning end of the mitt to toss into the sink. Well I forgot the cookies from the oven were still there and grabbed them. The bad part was they were still hot since they just came out of the oven a few minutes earlier. The flaming mitt went into the sink, the cookies flew onto the stove and I was whimpering about my hand. I ended up with a pretty bad burns and blisters all over my fingers and palm from where I grabbed the cookie sheet. We also had people over for a movie night, no one will ever let me forget "the time you caught the oven mitt on fire"

Yumyum! This looks like just the recipe to try next! My house is filled to the brim with fruit. We have so many apples we're not sure what to do with all of them! Not only do we have our own apple tree, but we also pick up apples from the neighbors and family friends. At the very least, we always have plenty of organic produce.
I think the next recipe I would want to use a apple corer/peeler for are apple tarts. I'm thinking similar to the French pear tarts with custard under a layer of fruit. The corer/peeler would be so handy in getting thin, even slices! It's also just as likely that some sort of fruit cobbler or tart will occur with lots of apples, pears, cranberries, oats, and chocolate chips.

Have to let my husband read these..he thinks I am the clutziest person in the kitchen. I have many stories about injuries in the kitchen..but my nightmare was dropping the turkey at Thanksgiving..resulting in burns all on my legs..but…the show must go on and we picked up the turkey, gave it a bath, made new gravy and we were set! As for the apple peeler..I SO want one. I go apple picking and pumpkin picking in the fall and make all my pies from scratch. This year, I have laminated doughs in school and I can see little puff pastry apple pies now…. (Returned to school to become a pastry chef..and I am loving it!)
Lisa
That sounds horrible! I am lucky to not have a very memorable cooking nightmare, but I've definitely dinged myself chopping up veggies. I really want to make this bread! I'd also love to make some homemade apple sauce!

This contraption has been the answer to my dreams. If you cook/bake with apples often enough, I HIGHLY recommend purchasing!!
