If you’re an olive aficionado, you’re going to love this delicious cream cheese and olive dip. This easy dip only requires a handful of ingredients and can be made in less than 5 minutes. Serve it with crackers, chips, pretzels, pita, and more. Olive lovers, this olive dip with cream cheese is for you!

    Why This Recipe Works

I absolutely adore olives. I’ll stand at the refrigerator and eat them straight from the jar until one of my boys or my husband stops me. I know I’m not the only one who does that, right?

I also love cream cheese dips, so it only makes sense I would love this delicious olive dip made with cream cheese. This easy appetizer is packed with olive flavor and is beyond delicious! And it’s not just a dip, wait until you try it as a sandwich spread.

And talk about an easy recipe! This creamy olive dip only takes 6 ingredients, 5 minutes, and 2 steps to make this delicious dip. It’s always a crowd favorite and the perfect dip for any gathering at any time of year and goes great with just about everything – this olive cream cheese spread also makes great tea sandwiches!

    Ingredients

Simple ingredients and minimal effort make for bold flavors from this creamy olive dip.

Olive dip ingredients in bowls on a white counter.

Olives – Use what you have on hand, or use an assortment for different flavors. Green, black, kalamata olives or a mixture of them all work for this creamy dip.

Cream cheese – Use full fat cream cheese for the best result.

Mayonnaise – Replace with light mayonnaise or plain Greek yogurt for a slimmer dressing.

Sour cream – Use full-fat for best quality. To slim down the recipe, use a reduced fat variety.

Olive brine – any variety of olive juice will work.

Garlic powder – I don’t recommend using garlic salt because of the salty olives.

How to Make Olive Dip with Cream Cheese

This easy olive dip recipe comes together so quickly. Just combine the ingredients well and set in the refrigerator to let the creamy texture and flavors develop.

    Step 1

In a medium bowl, combine olives, cream cheese, mayo, sour cream, olive brine and garlic powder.

Mix well with a rubber spatula or hand mixer.

    Step 2

Cover and refrigerate the cream cheese mixture until ready to serve. Serve chilled, with crackers, pita chips or bread.

A serving of olive dip on a small plate, along with pita chips and a couple olives.

    Recipe Notes

    • Spruce up the dip with fresh herbs, such as chives or parsley.
    • The olives add plenty of salt, so add the garlic powder in very small increments and to personal taste.
    • Be sure to check for olive pits before adding to the dip.
    • Add a little black pepper or red pepper flakes to give the dip a little spice.
    • Add extra olives for bigger flavor.

    How to Serve

    What Goes With Olive Dip

    • Bruschetta
    • Toasted rustic bread or any crisp bread
    • Garlic bread or garlic sticks
    • Fresh veggies such as carrot sticks or celery sticks
    • You favorite crackers or pita chips
    • Potato chips and pretzels
    • More olives

    Sour Cream Substitutes

    • Mayonnaise
    • Greek Yogurt
    • Buttermilk
    • Cream cheese
    • Crème Fraîche
    • Kefir
    • Skyr

    How to Store Olive Dip

Store remaining olive dip in the refrigerator in an airtight container or well covered with plastic wrap.

Stored properly, the dip will be at its best for up to 5 days.

I do not recommend freezing leftover dip.

    Black Olives vs Green Olives

Black olives have a milder and slightly sweeter flavor than green olives. Green olives are a bit more bold and pungent in flavor.

They are considered equally healthy, but green olives often have more sodium than black.
