This is my favorite way to prepare and enjoy fresh green beans! Just 4 ingredients required to make oven roasted green beans and share a perfect, healthy side dish with your meail. This recipe is easy to make and you can’t imagine how delicious it is! Great for holidays or weeknight meals.
Why This Recipe Works
The Minneapolis Farmer’s Market has always been a novelty for me. Last Friday I decided to give the Farmer’s Market a weekday try. It was a different world! The aisles of delicious veggies opened up and we cruised through, me salivating over the plump, ripe tomatoes and my boys yearning for any sign of sugar (of course).
I learned that if I swipe my hand over a section of green beans at the Market, the translation is that I want every single container that my hand hovered over. “I’ll take any one of these” became “I’ll take all of these.” Oh well. He was already pouring them into a giant plastic bag and it only cost $5. And I happen to love green beans.
This recipe allows you to enjoy a fresh, crisp non-mushy bean. Roasting adds a perfect crunch to every bite.
Recipe Ingredients
Fresh green beans – Canned or frozen green beans will work but garden fresh produce the tastiest side dish.
Parmesan cheese – Freshly grated Parmesan is amazing but if you only have grated Parmesan, it’ll do.
How To Make Parmesan Oven Roasted Green Beans
Step 1
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil and coat with cooking spray.
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine the green beans, olive oil, Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. Mix well and pour into a single layer onto the prepared baking sheet.
Step 3
Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, stirring/flipping the green beans halfway through. Serve warm.
Recipe Notes
- Add 3 or 4 minced garlic cloves to the ingredients before adding to the oven. Be careful that it doesn’t burn! If you don’t have any on hand, toss in a teaspoon of garlic powder.
- I often use coarse sea salt and fresh cracked pepper – it’s delicious! A dash of red pepper flakes is amazing if you like a bit of spice!
- For an extra indulgent recipe, throw a few french fried onions or panko bread crumbs on top of the green beans when roasting for a delicious crunch!
- Throw in a little chopped bacon to kick the flavor up a notch.
- If you are following Whole30 meal program, omit the Parmesan cheese.
