Did you know that the tradition of eating corned beef on St. Patrick’s Day is actually an Americanized version of an Irish tradition? A more common Saint Patty’s Day meal in Ireland would involve pork and potatoes or Irish Stew and soda bread.

But if you are Irish-American or if you just enjoy celebrating holidays that involve delicious food, you might want to know how to make the tastiest, quickest, most flavor-packed version of Corned Beef with Cabbage. And this is it! The Instant Pot cooks this comforting meal to absolute perfection.

How to Make Instant Pot Corned Beef

Cooking corned beef in the Instant Pot decreases cooking time by at least an hour and the flavor is just as delicious as it is when cooked traditionally. You will not be disappointed in this no-fail pressure cooker meal! Follow these simple steps to prepare this delicious meal!

STEP 1 – INSTANT POT CORNED BEEF AND CABBAGE

    • Pour 4 cups of water (or beef broth) into pot. Place a 4-pound beef brisket on the trivet (fat side up) and lower into Instant Pot. Sprinkle the seasoning packet that comes with the brisket over the top. Place the cover on the pot and set timer to 90 minutes on high pressure (meat setting). It will take the IP around 17 minutes to build up pressure before it begins cooking.

STEP 2 – INSTANT POT CORNED BEEF AND CABBAGE

    • When cooking time is done, do a Quick Release. Let the float valve drop and remove the cover (press cancel button). Remove trivet and meat from Instant Pot and place on a cutting board. Cover with foil to keep warm.

STEP 3 – INSTANT POT CORNED BEEF AND CABBAGE

    • Add cabbage wedges, potatoes and carrots to the Instant Pot and place cover on pot (oeave liquids in pot). Set timer to 5 minutes on high pressure (pressure cook setting). It will take the IP around 10 minutes to build up pressure before it begins cooking.

STEP 4 – INSTANT POT CORNED BEEF AND CABBAGE

    • When cooking time is done, do a Quick Release. Let the float valve drop and remove the cover. Place brisket on a serving platter and spoon the vegetables around it. Serve immediately!
