    Why This Recipe Works

It seems like every holiday meal requires whipped cream, am I right? I mean, pie just isn’t PIE unless it is topped with a creamy, dreamy dollop of creamy deliciousness. And I think we’d all agree that the frozen stuff isn’t nearly as good as the homemade version.

Something I feel like most people don’t know is how easy it is to make it and in just a few short minutes! Seriously!

    How To Make Whipped Cream

I am a huge proponent for homemade dessert toppings because they are WAY tastier than anything you can buy in the store and they take such little time to prepare. Homemade whipped cream is no exception! You’ll need only THREE ingredients and they are probably already in your kitchen.

    Step 1

Pull out 1 cup heavy whipping cream, a couple tablespoons powdered sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.

    Step 2

Place a metal bowl along with your metal beaters in the freezer for about 20 minutes. Immediately after removing the bowl/beaters from the freezer, place all of the ingredients into the bowl and start mixing! Go medium high speed!

    Step 3

One to two minutes later you should have the most perfectly creamy whipped cream at your fingertips, ready to be spooned onto a nearby dessert. Seriously, it just doesn’t get any easier than that.

    Recipe Notes

    • If using a stand mixer, place the whisk attachment along with the metal mixing bowl into the freezer before diving into the mixing.
    • How to tell when it is ready: If you lift the beaters out of the bowl and the topping holds its shape (when medium to stiff peaks form), it is done. If it flops back down into the bowl, keep beating a little while longer.
    • Powdered (also referred to as confectioners’ sugar) vs granulated sugar: which to use?! Some bakers swear by powdered and some love using granulated. When such a small amount is used (less than 1/4 cup), granulated sugar can be used in the recipe without taking on a grainy texture. In short: for this recipe, either works!

    Whipped Cream vs Cool Whip

Cool Whip is packaged and frozen whipped cream. Use the homemade variety in any recipe as a replacement for Cool Whip and using the same quantities.

What To Serve With Whipped Cream

    • This delicious Apple Crisp recipe is the best. It is tried, tested and NEVER fails! It is the perfect way to use up apples in the fall.
    • Turn the delicious and popular Chick-Fil-A peppermint (or any flavor!) milkshake into an irresistible frozen pie. This is a super easy and delicious dessert to share at your next holiday gathering!
    • Berry Slab Pie – Make pie the EASY way by piling delicious pie filling into puff pastry sheets! Use any kind of berry filling for this recipe. Done in under 30 minutes and you can cut shapes of your choice into the dough to match the occasion.
    • Cherry Almond Cheesecake – Saturated with almond flavoring and delicious tart cherries, this is the yummiest cherry cheesecake you’ll ever make!
    • Strawberry Shortcake
    • Just a simple bowl of vanilla (or whatever flavor!) ice cream – and hot fudge sauce, of course!
    • Coconut Cream Pie is a classic, dreamy dessert that will WOW guests at any gathering. A creamy filling is topped with homemade whipped cream and perfectly toasted coconut flakes!
    • If you want a Pumpkin Pie without the hassle, turn your pumpkin pie into bars instead! Each buttery bite of the tasty shortbread crust is perfect with the creamy pumpkin. They are just as delicious as pie but without the extra work.
    • This no-bake, FRESH Strawberry Pie is a great dessert for gatherings of any kind. It is super easy to prepare and it is packed with delicious strawberry flavor!
    • Here’s a little secret…this is the cheater version of Apple Pie! But no one will ever know. The crust is buttery-crispy and the insides are weak-in-the-knees delicious.
