Yogurt Dill Sauce Dressing Ingredients
Use fresh ingredients for the best tasting results to this creamy dressing.
Greek yogurt – Use plain yogurt to bring out the flavor of the dill. I like to use full fat Greek yogurt.
Green onions – Thinly sliced white and light green parts only. Should come out to approximately ½ cup total.
Fresh dill – You will definitely want to go fresh! Dried dill should only be used in a pinch.
Extra virgin olive oil
Lemon juice – Replace with lime juice if desired.
Worcestershire sauce
Seasonings – Garlic powder and salt of your choice.
How to Make This Creamy Yogurt Dill Sauce
Making this delicious dip is easier than doing the two-step.
Step 1
Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and mix well.
Step 2
Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve!
Recipe Notes
- Replace a portion of the yogurt with mayo and/or sour cream for a tasty dish (if you’re not concerned about calories or fat).
- You can use full fat or fat free yogurt as a healthy alternative.
- You can use a vegan yogurt to make this recipe dairy free.
- If you have a fish allergy or just avoid fish, use an anchovy-free Worcestershire sauce.
- Use fresh dill. Freeze-dried dill is a decent second alternative, but regular dried dill should only be used in a pinch.
- Use the bottom portion white and light green parts of the scallions only.
- Use fresh lemon juice for best taste.
- Add a little extra flavor with a little bit of lemon zest.
- Add a little fresh garlic or other fresh herbs into the ingredients.
Dill Seed vs Dill Weed
Though they come from the same plant, dill seed and dill weed are not used the same and even have different flavor profiles.
Dill weed has a bold citrusy flavor with light hints of what I call “grassy licorice” and mint. The dried seed of the plant has a more earthy bitterness closer to caraway.
The feathery leaves of dill weed lend themselves more to delicate dishes and dips, while the seeds are best used for soups, stews, and pickling.
Fat Free Sour Cream vs Greek Yogurt
Plain, full-fat Greek yogurt is a great substitute for sour cream. Greek yogurt is perfect for dressings, dips, salads, spreads, and even baked goods. Greek yogurt also has a lot more protein and fewer calories than even fat free sour cream
What To Dip in Dill Yogurt Dressing
Similar to a traditional tzatziki sauce, this yogurt and dill dressing goes great with any variety of cooked meat from beef to chicken to fish. This versatile sauce is also amazing with french fries or roasted potatoes, potato chips, crackers, pita bread (or any hearty bread), fresh or cooked vegetables, and so much more
How To Store Creamy Yogurt Dressing
Store remaining yogurt dill dressing for up to 10 days in the fridge in a clean, airtight container. Try to use an appropriately-sized container that doesn’t have a lot of extra space for air.
Can You Freeze Greek Yogurt Dip
I do not recommend freezing this yogurt dip as the process will negatively alter both the texture and flavor of the dip.
