Why This Recipe Works
One of my all-time favorite ways to decrease stress on holidays is to put those easy, quiet recipes to work on the sidelines. Doing this frees up oven space, counter space and mental space and it allows you to focus on the important stuff.
Whether you are making a holiday ham or just a weeknight meal, this slow cooker recipe is a GREAT one. The prep takes mere minutes and your crockpot will do all the heavy lifting. Making this pork meal is also a great excuse to make a soup using the leftover ham bone. More on that below!
Recipe Ingredients
Ham bone-in – If you cannot find a spiral cut ham, cook as directed and cut slices into the meat before pouring the glaze from the slow cooker over the top.
Pineapple juice – The juice of a pineapple is a great addition to a marinade because it helps to tenderize the meat, plus it shares a tangy, rich flavor.
Honey – Raw or pure honey will help make a great sauce combined with the brown sugar and the tangy worcestershire.
Brown sugar – Light brown sugar will work in this recipe. Since worcestershire sauce has molasses in it, you don’t need to spring for the dark brown sugar.
Worcestershire sauce – If you’ve never cooked with this sauce, you’re going to enjoy it here and seek other ways to use it in your kitchen. It gets its unique flavor from a combination of vinegar, molasses, anchovies, garlic, tamarind extract, chili pepper extract, sugar and salt.
How to Make Crockpot Ham with Pineapple Juice
Step 1
Place a pre cooked 8 – lb ham (bone-in, spiral cut), cut side down, in crock pot. Remove any plastic or paper protectors first if using bone-in ham. Pour the pineapple juice over top of the ham.
Step 2
In a small bowl, combine honey, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well and pour over the ham, spreading so all outer surfaces are covered in the sauce. If possible, expose the cut portions of the ham and allow sauce to seep in.
Step 3
Place the lid on the crock pot and cook on low heat for 4-6 hours. Carefully transfer ham to a serving platter and spoon the sauce and juices from the slow cooker over the top, ensuring that it gets into the inner portion of the slices of ham.
Using a sharp knife, cut the meat off the bone and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
- Boneless ham can be used in place of a bone-in ham.
- If a seasoning packet comes with the ham, you can do one of two things: 1. Toss it and follow the recipe as directed or 2. Mix the contents of the packet with 2 tablespoons of pineapple juice and use that as your glaze. You will still want to cover the ham with 2 cups of pineapple juice as directed in the recipe.
- Most hams purchased at the grocery store are fully cooked hams. For this reason, the cook time is shorter than when cooking raw meat. Any time between 4 and 6 hours is sufficient for most hams you’ll find, so adjust the time to fit your day.
- If the ham in the crock pot keeps your cover from fitting, use a piece of foil to cover the openings in order to keep heat from escaping.

FAQ About Ham
A piece of meat with a bone-in gives maximum flavor when cooking. The bone helps to cook slower and cook more evenly because the bone conducts heat.
Most hams in the U.S. are cured and fully cooked when sold. However, it can take a few hours on up to heat a ham to be served, especially when served with a glaze.
If you are purchasing a bone-in ham, it’s best to plan for approximately 1/2 pound per person and a 1/3 pound per person on a boneless ham. Some will more and some eat less than that but leftovers create so many delicious meals, it evens out!
Yes, any meat can be cooked from frozen, however you should allow for approximately 50% more cook time if you do.
