Raise your hand if you’re a broccoli lover! I have always loved broccoli to a sort of weird degree. When I make a batch of roasted broccoli, I come close to eating the entire thing myself. It’s like candy!

Here are a few of my favorite things about roasted broccoli: It tastes like candy (seriously). It’s probably the easiest side dish you’ll ever make. The green color means it’s packed with good stuff. My boys don’t fight me for it because of the aforementioned green color.

HOW TO MAKE ROASTED BROCCOLI RECIPE

STEP 1

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. On a rimmed baking sheet, drizzle 1 pound of trimmed broccoli florets with olive oil. Season with salt and pepper and toss to coat.

STEP 2

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the broccoli is tender and golden brown. Serve warm!

RECIPE NOTES: ROASTED BROCCOLI

  • Replace the olive oil with coconut, vegetable or sesame oil for a different flavor.
  • Go crazy with herbs and spices, if you’d like! Italian seasoning, cumin, cayenne pepper, oregano or basil are great dried seasonings to sprinkle over the top. If you have fresh herbs on hand, basil, chives, parsley and thyme are all delicious when sprinkled over broccoli before roasting.
  • Replace fresh garlic with 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder, if desired.
  • Sprinkling Parmesan cheese (shaved or grated!) over the top before roasting adds a delicious touch.
  • Add chopped (uncooked) bacon for a meaty, even more delicious side.
IS ROASTED BROCCOLI HEALTHY

Roasted broccoli is chock full of nutrients no matter how you prepare it. You get Vitamin C, K, Iron and Calcium inside those little florets, so eat up!

CAN ROASTED BROCCOLI BE FROZEN

Absolutely yes! Wait until the broccoli has cooled completely, place in a single layer in a freezer Ziploc bag and freeze for up to 4 months.

HOW TO SEASON ROASTED BROCCOLI

Salt and pepper are the perfect seasonings for roasted broccoli, but the options are endless. Paprika, thyme, cumin, oregano or cayenne pepper sprinkled over the top before cooking tastes great, too.

CAN YOU ROAST FROZEN BROCCOLI

You can! There will be more moisture in frozen broccoli, so stir a few times throughout the cooking process. Bake at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes.

I do this all the time, its delicious! This recipe has converted my husband into a broccoli lover, still working on the kids though! I've recently tried roasting the broccoli using just Pam spray, and its really come out just as good, and its nice to save on the oil calories… I roast at 400 and use salt, pepper, onion & garlic powder. I like when a few of the floret ends get a little charred.
