Creamy Avocado Ranch Dressing is bursting with flavor. Fresh lime, cilantro and avocados create a delicious dressing you’ll want to lick off the spoon! Pour this creamy sauce over a salad, on tacos or use it as a veggie dip or sandwich spread!
A few months ago I was across the world in Uganda for a missions trip. On one of the last days we were there, we wandered into a grocery store. We didn’t need groceries, but we were mostly just curious about what types of products one can find in an African grocery store. I strolled through the produce section and literally just about DIED when I spotted the avocado bin. THEY WERE ENORMOUS! Almost as big as my head! Here’s proof..
We tried explaining to Ugandans how lucky they were to have access to such massive avocados. We explained how tiny our avocados were in comparison and could see that this fact confused them. I would be in heaven getting my hands on those babies regularly! YUM!
I have a strange love for the creamy, succulent avocado. I absolutely love avocados and could eat them all day long in a variety of ways, which is why I have made Avocado Ranch Dressing a STAPLE in my house. This creamy dressing is so dreamy and every time I make a batch I pour it over EVERYTHING.

HOW TO MAKE AVOCADO RANCH DRESSING AT HOME!
Add the following ingredients to a food processor or blender:
1 avocado, peeled, pitted and quartered
Chopped flat-leaf parsley
2 cloves garlic, minced
2-4 tablespoons milk (use more for a thinner dressing)
1-2 tablespoons olive oil
Juice of 1/2 of a lime
Salt and pepper, to taste
Pulse or puree the ingredients until smooth and creamy. Add additional milk (1 tablespoon at a time) for a thinner dressing. This recipe will make approximate 1 1/2 cups of dressing.
For a thinner dressing, add additional milk, lime juice and/or olive oil in 1-tablespoon increments until the desired consistency has been reached.
Make it a lighter dressing by cutting the amount of mayo and sour cream in half.
Add extra fresh herbs for an extra punch of flavor! Add dried herbs such as basil or throw in a few tablespoons of chopped fresh herbs! Fresh dill or fresh chives would taste DELICIOUS in this dressing.
Add 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder for extra flavor.
If you love ranch more than you love avocados, it would be delicious to add a teaspoon or so of dry ranch dressing mix.
WAYS TO USE THIS DELICIOUS SPREAD, DRESSING AND DIP!
Use it as a traditional salad dressing and pour it over your favorite salad! My personal favorite salad recipes are Southwest Chicken Salad, THE BEST Chopped Salad you’ll ever eat and this Superfood Salad.
Use it as a dip for veggies! Literally any type of veggie would pair well with it. A few ideas: cucumber slices, baby carrots, bell peppers, celery, broccoli and cauliflower.
AVOCADO RECIPES AND IDEAS
If you have extra avocados on hand after putting this dressing together, there are so many other ways to use them up! Here are a few ideas:
SOLO! I love slicing an avocado in half, sprinkling sea salt into the flesh and spooning out bites for an easy, healthy snack.
Scrambled or fried eggs that are topped with avocado slices are an easy and yummy breakfast option!

Throw them on top of your next burger or turn a BLT into a BLEAT.
Spoon mashed avocado over a piece of toast and sprinkle with Everything But The Bagel Seasoning.

SELECTING A RIPE AVOCADO
If avocados go on sale, it’s great to pick up a handful and let them ripen at home. There are so many ways to enjoy them that they’ll never go to waste. Selecting an avocado that is ready to enjoy takes a little more knowledge, however. Try these simple tests to select your next avocado batch:
TEST 1 – A good test to check ripeness is to use your fingers and push gently into the avocado to see if it yields to pressure near the top where it was connected to the tree. If it gives freely and feels mushy, the avocado is past its prime. If the avocado is rock-solid and there is no give to touch, the avocado needs a few more days to ripen.
TEST 2 – Pop off the stem of the avocado where the avocado separated from the tree (see step 1 below for a visual). If a dark brown color is revealed, the avocado is past its prime. When it is impossible to remove the stem nub, the avocado is not ripe enough to eat. If a green color is revealed, perfectly delicious avocado flesh is ready to be enjoyed!

- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 avocado peeled, pitted and quartered
- 1/4 cup flat-leaf parsley chopped
