    What Is Tetrazzini?

Chicken Tetrazzini is an Americanized pasta dish typically made with chicken (or sometimes turkey or even shrimp in place of the chicken) swimming in a creamy and comforting sauce. It can be made with egg noodles or your favorite long pasta.

    Easy Chicken Tetrazzini Ingredients

This classic dish uses easy to find, simple ingredients. Always use fresh ingredients for the best flavor.

Ingredients for slow cooker chicken tetrazzini on a white counter top.

Butter – Can be replaced with olive oil.

Onion – Yellow or white onion.

Mushrooms – Fresh mushrooms are best for flavor.

Broth – Chicken broth or chicken stock or vegetable broth.

    Cream of mushroom soup

Chicken – Use skinless, boneless chicken breasts and trim the fat first.

Cream cheese – You can omit or cut back on this ingredient for a healthier dish.

Mozzarella cheese – Any variety of melty cheese works well. Feel free to cut back on this ingredient for a healthier dish.

Pasta – Spaghetti or angel hair pasta or fettuccine noodles.

    Salt and pepper

Toppings – Finely chopped Italian parsley, shaved or shredded Parmesan cheese, fresh cracked black pepper.

    Recipe Notes & Tips

    • Use any long form pasta or egg noodles. Cook time will vary per pasta.
    • Almost any variety of mushroom can be used.
    • Fresh sliced mushrooms are best, but canned or jarred, chopped or sliced, will also work.
    • If you’re not a fan of mushrooms, you can omit them or replace them.
    • Use cream of chicken soup as a great sub for cream of mushroom.
    • Be sure chicken is cooked to an internal temperature of 165F for safe consumption.
    • You can use leftover turkey or chicken or store-bought rotisserie chicken for this recipe Just add it near the end after you’ve cooked the pasta.
    • Spray the inside of your slow cooker with some non-stick cooking spray for easier cleanup.

What To Serve With Chicken Tetrazzini

Chicken tetrazzini is a versatile dish that goes well with lots of options! Pair it with a fresh salad and some veggies for a complete dinner.

    Salads

    Classic Chopped Salad
    Fresh Kale Superfood Salad
    Loaded Veggie Salad

    Veggies and Sides

    Oven-Roasted Broccoli Florets
    Roasted Mixed Vegetables
    Instant Pot Green Beans
    Sauteed Asparagus
And don’t forget the Sweet and Soft Dinner Rolls or Homemade Garlic Bread to sop up all that scrumptious sauce!

How to Fancify For a Dinner Party

This simple family meal actually makes a great option to serve at a dinner party or fancy affair when you want to impress without working too hard.

First, serve it as a course meal and start with any of the delicious salad options mentioned above.

Plate the tetrazzini individually before serving. Use a pair of tongs to carefully transfer a slightly smaller sized portion right in the middle of the plate while pulling up and giving your hand a slight twist so it looks just perfect. Wipe any drips from the plate.

Top the servings with chopped fresh parsley and shaved fresh parmesan. The shaved parmesan looks so pretty! You can add fresh cracked black pepper or go around the table after serving to grind it for your guests individually.

Optionally, you can add a couple cooked asparagus spears to each plate next to or across the tetrazzini.

Pair with a dry white wine so it doesn’t overpower the flavor of the meal.

How To Store Creamy Chicken Pasta

Allow the tetrazzini to cool completely before covering for storage. This will prevent condensation and bacteria from forming. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

How To Freeze Leftover Chicken Tetrazzini

Store cooled pasta in an airtight container and freeze for up to 4 months. For best results, store the sauce separately from pasta if possible (or don’t freeze pasta at all).

    How to Reheat

Heat leftover tetrazzini in a microwave safe dish for 2 minutes or until hot. I also like to add a teaspoon or two of milk before heating to help loosen up the pasta so it stays creamy.
