This Lemon Drop Cocktail is EASY to make and is sure to impress guests. Use honey simple syrup for a less sweet version of the popular adult drink.
Dan and I got stuck on this refreshing lemon drop beverage this summer because it is, well, perfect! Neither of us loves super-sweet drinks, so Dan crafted a delicious Honey Simple Syrup that we use for this lemony beverage to take the edge off the sweetness. The honey, which replaces the typical refined sugar, not only reduces the sweetness but also adds a delicious and unique flavor to the drink.
When we have guests over who enjoy partaking in beverages of the alcoholic variety, this is our go-to drink to make. And by “our,” I mean Dan’s. Because I’ve never actually made one myself. Thanks, hubby!
How do you make a lemon drop?
Typically lemon drop cocktails (or martinis) are made using simple syrup with refined sugar but regardless of which syrup you use, all lemon drops include: equal parts lemon juice and simple syrup and two parts vodka. You can include any or all (or none!) of the following to your drink: sugar around the rim of the glass and lemon wedges for garnish.
What is simple syrup for cocktails?
Simple syrup is some form of sugar dissolved in water, making it 100% liquid which works great for cocktails! Check out this Simple Syrup recipe for a more standard way of making it or peek at my video to find out how to make the honey-infused version (written recipe below)!
Everyone who tries Dan’s version of the lemon drop falls in love (with the drink, not him). If you try this recipe, please come back and let me know how it turned out. And if you love it, Dan also makes a mean Margarita that makes people swoon.
Have a great rest of your week, lovely people. I’m so grateful that you are here and I’m hoping something you see here inspires you!
