    Why This Recipe Works

I have always been enamored by the way a sauce can totally transform a dish. They can turn bland food into something magical. Sometimes it is fun (and delish!) to pair an unlikely sauce with another food that it typically doesn’t mingle with!

When most of us think “spaghetti,” our brains start trying to figure out whether or not we want to use jarred pasta sauce or homemade. But what if we completely switched up spaghetti night by throwing a different creamy sauce into the mix?!

Read on for tips about how to make spaghetti with alfredo sauce using just a few simple ingredients, including ways to spruce up the jarred variety if you don’t have time for a homemade batch.

    Recipe Ingredients

Spaghetti noodles – Swap out spaghetti with any variety of cooked pasta such as penne pasta or fettuccine noodles.

Olive oil – Equal amounts of butter can be used in place of olive oil.

Alfredo sauce – Spruce up jarred alfredo sauce or make a homemade batch yourself in just a few minutes.

Toppings – Once cooked and plated, some delicious topping options for this dish include grated or shredded Parmesan cheese, fresh parsley or other fresh herbs, black pepper or red pepper flakes.

How To Make Spaghetti With Alfredo Sauce

    Step 1

Cook the pasta in boiling water until al dente, approximately 8-10 minutes. Drain and rinse. Toss with olive oil.

Cooked spaghetti noodles in a collander.

    Step 2

While the pasta cooks, pour sauce into a large skillet. Add chicken and desired spices to spruce up the sauce (optional). Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, or until warmed through.

    Step 3

Divide hot pasta between serving plates and top with Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley.

    Recipe Notes

    • Make your batch of sauce tastier by adding cream cheese, pasta water, garlic powder, unsalted butter, heavy whipping cream, Italian seasoning, ground beef, cooked chicken breasts (chopped), a splash of milk, grated Parmesan cheese, fresh minced garlic, a pinch of nutmeg, chicken broth
    • Attain the perfect consistency and achieve a super silky sauce by running your cooled sauce through a blender. Reheat and serve immediately!

    FAQ About Alfredo Sauce

    How to store alfredo sauce?

Store alfredo sauce in sealed containers in the fridge for up to 5 days. To extend the shelf life of this delicious sauce, freeze it!

    Can alfredo sauce be frozen?

To freeze alfredo sauce, transfer to an airtight container or doubled up resealable freezer bags. Freeze for up to 4 months. When you are ready to use it, allow it to thaw completely and reheat on the stove top or in the microwave. Either way, whisk vigorously until warmed through and creamy.

    Is alfredo sauce gluten free?

Alfredo sauce is typically made with butter, milk or cream and cheese. Some varieties of this sauce are thickened using flour, so be sure to check labels for ingredients containing wheat.

    Is alfredo sauce cheese?

Although alfredo sauce is cheese-based, it is not technically cheese. It is a sauce containing butter, milk or heavy cream and one or two varieties of cheese.

Why is my alfredo sauce grainy?

Alfredo sauce becomes grainy when Parmesan added to it is not good quality and/or it doesn’t fully melt. To avoid this issue, use a fresh block of Parmesan cheese and grate or shred it into the sauce. To fix this issue, run the sauce through a blender or food processor.

This is most definitely the best one yet, can’t even lie. I added Most of the pasta to the sauce, and after letting the sauce simmer for 10 minutes then simmered the pasta in it for another minute or two came out spectacular. much appreciated.
