This is the closest you’ll get to replicating the Vegas Mirage hotel’s famous and best Mai Tai recipe. One of my favorite alcoholic beverages ever!
Dan and I visited Las Vegas yearly for a handful of years after we got married. Due to a tightened budget, it has been nearly FOUR YEARS since we have been to Vegas together. One of our fondest memories involves lounging next to the Mirage swimming pool and gazing upward at an endless blue sky through the branches of palm trees. The sound of water splashing and the heat on our skin was calming and relaxing. We talk about that a lot. It was a magical memory spent together.
And I won’t lie.. the ice cold Mai Tai that sat on the table next to me didn’t do any harm. I’m not a Mai Tai expert by any means, but that particular drink was…AMAZING. Jaw-dropping. Delectable. Irresistible. When we got back to freezing-cold Minnesota, Dan did his best to replicate it and his version is spot on. He doesn’t make it often, but when he does I close my eyes and pretend that swaying palm branches are hovering above me.
Throw this drink together for guests and you will be talked about forever. In a good way. YUM! ENJOY!
