Learn how to make air fryer frozen steak fries perfectly in just a few minutes. Straight from the freezer to your air fryer, this is the easiest way to make this perfect finger food!
Why This Recipe Works
There is this problem in the world of French fries. If you order them at a restaurant, you must either eat them all or leave leftovers on your plate. Because bringing them back home with you is never satisfying.
So how about making a batch AT HOME?! Save yourself the disappointment by making this French fries air fryer recipe in your very own kitchen for a super easy side dish. I have made homemade fries in the oven and regular air fryer fries over the years, but I thought it was time to experiment with a different delicious version: the steak fry!
I grabbed a bag of frozen steak fries from the frozen aisle, then threw them into my trusty air fryer for a few minutes. They emerged lightly golden brown with a crispy texture, perfectly cooked through and ready to eat. No more mushy leftover restaurant potatoes, people! This is my current fave way to enjoy homemade fries.
Recipe Ingredients
Frozen steak fries – This is the only ingredient necessary, making this the easiest potato side dish to prepare. And you don’t even need to thaw them first! Pull them straight from the freezer!
How To Make Air Fryer Frozen French Fries
Step 1
Place frozen fries in a single layer in an air fryer basket or the inner pot of a pressure air fryer.
Cook at 375 degrees F for 8 minutes. Flip and cook for an additional 6-8 minutes.
Step 2
When cooking time is up, use tongs or a spatula to remove from the air fryer. Place on a few paper towels to remove any excess oil. Transfer to a serving plate and serve alongside ketchup, bbq sauce or your favorite fry sauce.
Recipe Notes
- For crispy fries, cook the full 8 minutes per side. For a slightly less crispy option, decrease cook time by 1-2 minutes per side.
- For best results, add a little oil or cooking spray before cooking. Use an oil sprayer to avoid using too much.
- Use your favorite brand for this recipe!
- It is a good idea to have them lined up in a single layer so that none are overlapping while they cook.
- This is the perfect side dish to go alongside burgers, hot dogs or grilled chicken breasts. Or serve as a game day finger food alongside your favorite sauce.
- This same cooking method (times may vary slightly depending on the thickness of the fries; thinner fries will have a shorter cook time) applies to curly fries, waffle fries, crinkle fries, shoe string fries or other types of fries.
- To spruce up the flavor, toss in olive oil and garlic powder before cooking so that the surface of the potato pieces are coated. Another way to add flavor is by sprinkling Parmesan cheese over the tops just before serving.
