    A nice bowl of taco soup is such a warm and comforting delight any time of the year. And although my homemade taco soup can be a meal in itself, I love to bulk it up with some options. After eating this soup many times, my family and I have come up with our favorite go-alongs for taco soup to share with you! Below you will find 65 delicious ideas for what to serve with taco soup.

    What To Serve With Taco Soup

    My whole family says I make the best taco soup. It’s a tried and true, easy recipe I have made dozens and dozens of times. This warm and spicy, hearty soup is a family favorite made with simple ingredients we enjoy again and again. And it is packed with an amazing rich flavor!

    Another great thing about chicken taco soup is that it lends itself to so many great go-alongs.

    I know it can be hard to know what to pair with this amazingly flavorful soup, but my family enjoyed it so many ways that we’ve compiled a list of our 65 (yes!) delightful sides, mains, and more to go with this delicious soup.

    • Appetizers – Chips and guac, salsa, taco dip, warmed tortillas, all complement taco soup tremendously
    • Bread – Garlic bread, cornbread, breadsticks, homemade dinner rolls are all great options for sopping up all the soup! 
    • Salad – chopped salad, broccoli salad, edamame salad, quinoa salad, rice salad, all are fantastic accompaniments 
    • Vegetables – delicious sides like roasted veggies, mushrooms, green beans, asparagus, cauliflower, and more all go very well with this soup
    • Desserts – from Mexican chocolate cake to tres leche to spicy grilled peaches, you’ll want something sweet to finish off this amazing meal.
    • Drinks – Cold margaritas or beer for those who imbibe, or try it with a refreshing Brazilian lemonade or Mexican lemonade for an alcohol free option.
    • Toppings – Top your chicken tortilla soup with all your favorite taco toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, jalapenos, chives or green onions, bell peppers, crushed crispy tortilla chips.

    My recipe, and most recipes, for taco soup is naturally gluten free when made with my homemade taco seasoning blend. If you’re using a store bought package mix, double check the ingredients.

    This is my family’s favorite taco soup recipe and it comes together in 30 minutes! It’s packed with fresh ingredients and fresh flavors. The ingredient amounts are measured to my family’s tastes, but you can cater the spice to your liking.

    Toppings for Taco Soup

    Top your chicken tortilla soup with any and all of your taco favorite toppings like shredded cheddar cheese, a dollop of sour cream, jalapenos or pickled onions, chives, green chiles, peppers, crushed tortilla chips or Fritos.

    Garnish with a little cilantro or parsley and more crunchy tortilla strips.
